No idea what I want. But here is what I don't want.

I am not one of those women who is content to spend her entire life doing any of the following:

  • completely losing herself in the quest to raise self-absorbed, entitled little shits, destined to have a jillion regrets by the time menopause hits and her kids have completely taken her for granted and plan to stick her in a home
  • serving.
  • faking a polite phone demeanor
  • brown nosing
  • being embarrassed by how unoriginal I am at my high school reunion
  • being too embarrassed to even attend a high school reunion
  • sitting around.
  • never having anything interesting to say, ever.
  • only being concerned about dusty drapes and what the neighbours are doing with their azaleas
  • drinking martinis at noon
And so on.

One day, I am going to open a small gallery that caters to artists suffering from mental illness... one day.

Project Hell Yes.

So, remember how I was doing all that bitching a couple of posts ago?  How I always complain about my life lacking meaning and purpose and shit like that?
Well I have found something to pour myself into, and I'm pretty excited about it.
I can't really tell you what it is yet, because there is a chance it could fail miserably.
Not much of a chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Lovely readers, if you can pick up a paintbrush, or a camera, or some clay or anything at all, and you would like to take part in my exciting delicious project, please send me your art!  SEND ME YOUR ART!
Please.

valley of the dolls

Okay.  why?  why why why why why why why?
Why can't I drink wine until I'm hammered on a Monday night?
Why can't I just buy books instead of borrowing from the library?
Why can't I spend the entire day in my underwear eating cupcakes and watching Jersey Shore?
Why won't he buy me a Vespa?

I know.  I'm writing another post about how much being a grown up in a grown up relationship sucks.

I probably shouldn't complain too much.  I am lucky to be with someone who lets me off the hook with long stretches (oh, only a year or so) of leisure time in between very part-time jobs that lead to nothing and stress me out like I have a real job, or something.
But when did I become this grown up?  When did everything become so wrapped up in panic and responsibility?
If I want to buy $25 candles and $10 cardboard boxes I will!  Dammit!  This is freedom to me!
At this point I feel like I should rise, stare off into the sky with a noble expression, chin jutting out and what not, and proclaim all young, immature, frivolous mommies the world over free from all feelings of guilt and shame.  With a flag waving away in the background.

This is unrealistic.  I'm not getting a Vespa tomorrow.  Or moving somewhere that resonates within my soul.  This is where I am and I have to make the best of it.

I need a new hobby.
Enter: doll making.
Now hear me out!
Glass eyes.  Wigs.  Clay.  Little miniature shoes and outfits and wigs worked into messy braids and sad pathetic little doll faces and oh my god!  This could very well be the perfect time-waster that will pacify me and make me shut up and stop giving my poor husband an ulcer.  And a headache.  And a potential dependancy issue.  That last part was a joke.  Maybe.

itty bitty tiny things

I have been flipping through The Book of Inspiration by Jo Packham and Jenny Doh and I have to admit, it's inspiring the fuck out of me!
I have been toying with the idea of delving into mixed media for a while... mixed media is just a fancy name for putting things together that don't belong together, but it is really visually appealing and offers more to the eye than just a regular painting. So I have been thinking about it. For like 2 years.
I've always had a thing for tiny shit. When I was a kid, I had the biggest Polly Pocket collection I have ever seen. I very rarely lost pieces, but when I did I had kinipshin fits that you would not belieeeeve. I loved tiny things. I still get Kinder Surprise eggs once in a while, and struggle with what to do with the tiny toy inside. It always ends up getting thrown out, though.
I have decided to collect these tiny little things that come my way, store them in clear cookie jars until the time is right and, when the time is right, make something awesome. Like a little matchbox coffin for a paper doll.
I'm putting this out there into the universe via my blog because I want to hold myself to it. And I do not lie on Blogspot. Because you just don't do that.
